Welcome to La Ferme du Soleil

Come to our magical mountain home, above the clouds and away from the crowds, on the slopes and only one hour from Geneva and 45 minutes east of Annecy (See the map.)

La Ferme du Soleil in the early evening

When I found the Ferme du Soleil ten years ago, I knew that it was the most special place that I had ever been in the Alps. I had been looking everywhere in France: Chamonix, Megeve, Flaine, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Courchevel, Avoriaz, Meribel, Les 3 Vallées etc. The chalet looks over the village of Chinaillon, Le Grand Bornand, a jewel in the Aravis ski area, just a valley away from La Clusaz.

You can see the house at the top of the lifts (in the picture on the right). Situated on the slopes, you ski in and out of a home that guests come back to winter after winter, to enjoy the roaring fires, delicious cooking and authentic surroundings, while your bags are brought up by skidoo. There are magnificent views, wonderful skiing and snow boarding out of the door with everything from pistes for beginners to black runs, all well connected with an excellent lift system. There are no huge hotels so the area has kept its charm and friendly mountain restaurants.

In summer, the surrounding ski slopes change into pastures full of alpine flowers; our neighbours are Reblochon cheese makers. You can laze by our swimming pool listening to the cowbells or use the Ferme du Soleil as a base for spectacular mountain activities such as rock climbing, para-gliding from the summit of Mt Lachat just above us (they held the world championships there not long ago), mountain biking, tree-climbing forest adventures, trampolining, go-karting and kite flying (see pictures). Others walk over the mountains to little local restaurants, visit local markets, paint and draw or enjoy nearby tennis, golf, country fairs and sailing on the Annecy lake.

Guests have come, summer and winter, some with three generations; others have celebrated 21st, 40th and 60th birthdays. It is place to come when you want to be somewhere special with a group of friends, family or colleagues. The Ferme du Soleil looks forward to welcoming you.
